Masjid Ghamama, Madinah, Saudi Arabia

Location : Madinah, Arab Saudi
Description: The location where ghamama mosque (masjid ghamama) stands today was an open-air area during the time of the Prophet (PBUH) where the Eid prayers (Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha prayers) were most frequently held. Nowadays Ghamama mosque is very near to the Prophet`s mosque due to the extension of masjid Nabawi. The word `ghamam` in Arabic means clouds. This mosque has been given this name because it is the place where the Prophet (PBUH) prayed for rainfall after which it rained profusely.

Greenville Islamic Center and Masjid, South Carolina, USA

Location: South Carolina, USA
Description: Greenville has been home of many Muslims throughout the years. In the 1980's, Greenville saw a steadily increasing number of Muslims moving into the area, as Greenville was becoming a center for engineering and technology. Up till this point in time, Greenville had no place of worship for Muslims and the community was becoming increasingly concerned about the need for Islamic education as young Muslims were growing up. Within the homes of Muslim families, classes and prayers were established and soon the increasing population of Muslims in the late 1980's would outgrow these homes. Seeing this need, several committed Muslims started to organize and come together with the goal of establishing a Masjid that would be the center of the Muslim community and education in Greenville. The Islamic Society of Greenville (ISG) was established in 1987 within a rented room in the building formerly known as "Danny's Antique Mall". This room served as our Masjid for daily and Jumma prayers. In addition, Sunday classes were held to teach the young and adult Muslims alike, the fundamentals of Islam.
